How it works
- 01
Pick a stake
$1 to $200. Pick a number that would actually annoy you. That is the whole trick.
- 02
Name the habit
Wake up, gym, off TikTok, in bed by midnight, or anything you can prove.
- 03
Choose the proof
A photo, a timelapse, a friend, GPS, screen time. Only the kinds that can prove that habit are offered.
- 04
Sign it
The contract writes itself out in your own choices. You sign it with your finger. From then on it is not up to you.
Write one now
I will and , or lose .
Tap any orange word to change it. This is the sentence the app writes, and you sign it with your finger.
Proof, not promises
A habit app that takes your word for it is a to-do list. Commit only counts a habit as done when there is evidence, and the evidence has to fit the habit. A photo cannot prove you stayed off TikTok, so for that one the app watches your screen time instead.
- Photo
- Taken inside the app, before the deadline. Camera roll uploads are refused, and every photo is checked for freshness before anything is charged.
- Timelapse
- For anything that takes time: studying, cooking, the gym. Much harder to fake than a single frame.
- Screen time
- Set a daily limit for an app. Usage is read automatically. Go over, and the stake is charged without you lifting a finger.
- App lock
- The apps lock at the time you chose and stay locked until morning. You physically cannot open them.
- GPS
- Your phone has to be at the place you named, at the time you named. The map decides, not you.
- A friend checks
- Pick someone. They see your proof and approve it or they do not. They can never win your money — they only hold you to it.
- Health data
- Steps and workouts come straight off your phone. There is nothing to send and nothing to argue about.
The rules we hold ourselves to
Nothing is charged without proof reviewed
Every missed deadline is reviewed by a person before the card is charged. If your photo was there and the app blinked, you are not paying for it.
12 hours to appeal
Sick, stuck, a real emergency: send the evidence and a human reads it. You choose how strict your own appeals are when you write the contract, and you cannot loosen them later.
Your stake never goes to us
We make money from the subscription, not from you failing. At launch, a missed stake goes to a charity you pick, a friend, or your own savings pot. Never into our pocket.
Your card and your photos
Stripe holds the card; we never see the number. Photos are deleted the moment they have been reviewed. Cancel the subscription in two taps, any time.

Questions
Can I use it today?
Yes, free. Commit is in dry run: you write real contracts with real deadlines and real proof, and nothing is charged. Leave your email inside and your contract goes live the day stakes do, with your first month free.
What happens when I miss?
Once stakes are live: at the deadline you get a notification, a person confirms the proof is missing, the stake is charged and a receipt appears in the app. No warning, no grace. That is the deal you signed.
Where does the money go?
Not to us. At launch you choose where a missed stake goes: a charity you would rather not fund, a friend, or a savings pot in your name. The only thing we sell is the subscription.
Can I cheat?
You can try. Photos have to be taken inside the app and are checked for freshness. Screen time, app locks, GPS and Health are read automatically. Turning tracking off counts as a miss. The honest answer is that it is easier to just do the thing.
Is this gambling?
No. There is no counterparty and no prize. Friends can verify your proof but they cannot win money. It is a contract with yourself, and the only way to win is to keep it.
What if I have a real reason?
Send it. You have 12 hours after a miss to appeal, and a person reads every appeal. How lenient that person is allowed to be is a setting you choose when you write the contract.
What is the subscription for?
The app. Stakes are the commitment device; the subscription is the product. It is $8.99 a month at launch, and early adopters get the first month free.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Commit runs in your browser today. Open the link and you are in. Add it to your home screen if you want it to feel like an app. Store versions come later.
Is my card safe?
Stripe processes every payment. Commit never stores your card number, and nothing is charged until you have turned stakes on yourself.
